Euroclear Finland organized the first meeting of the new Finnish Market Advisory Group for participant clients on 12 June 2019. The focus of the meeting was on the Euroclear Finland roadmap.

Anu Puttonen, Chief Business Officer of Euroclear Finland, chaired the meeting and started by presenting the mandate of FIMAG. Philip van Hassel, T2S Program Director, continued with the presentation of Euroclear Finland’s roadmap for 2019-2022.

The roadmap consists of a number of initiatives, partly stemming from the ECB programs – such as T2-T2S consolidation and ECMS – and partly from European regulation like Settlement Discipline Regime. In addition, the roadmap includes Euroclear Finland’s service evolvement fulfilling client needs in the changing environment. T2S is an important milestone in the roadmap for the market and Euroclear Finland. Together we will continue the discussion regarding the best approach for all parties.

“It’s very important to maintain a continuous dialogue regarding the impact of the roadmap. I am happy to see that the discussion in the meeting was open and active,” commented Pauliina Lappeteläinen, Special Adviser, Finance Finland.

Anu Puttonen continues: “Good cooperation with clients is extremely important for us, and we appreciate active contribution in the FIMAG as well as in other meetings.”

The next FIMAG meeting will be held in Q3 2019. More information will follow in due course.

The Finnish Market Advisory Group (FIMAG), founded in April 2019, succeeds the former Market Advisory Committee (MAC). The FIMAG acts as a business consultation forum for Euroclear Finland regarding its future development for the coming years. The group consults participants on major items that will have considerable impact on them – such as the market development roadmap regarding T2S and the upcoming Shareholder Rights Directive II – and aims to achieve a market-wide understanding of relevant development and required development plans. Business representatives of participants have the relevant mandate to express views and opinions of the participant organisations.
